Terms of Service

We have compiled these notes to provide a quick reference for our clients regarding certain procedures. Please read it carefully and should you wish to discuss any aspect in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact us.

OUR INSURANCE SERVICES:

C Jones-Evans & Son are independent Insurance Brokers, regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), under reference number 306035. Our details can be checked of the FSA's website www.fsa.gov.uk/register (*external link)

We offer independent advice for non investment insurance and will advise and recommend the most suitable product for your needs from the limited suppliers of holiday home insurance companies we deal with. We will also assist you with any claim you have to make during the duration of the policy.

CONFIDENTIALITY:

All personal information about you will be treated as private and confidential and kept secure.

We may use information we hold about you to provide information to you about other products and services that we offer. We will only use and disclose the information we have about you in the normal course of arranging and administering your insurance and will not disclose any information to any other party without your consent. Insurers and their agents share information with each other to prevent fraudulent claims and for underwriting purposes via the Claims and Underwriting Exchange register, operated by Insurance Database Services Ltd.

By arranging a policy through ourselves or when reporting a claim, we may contact these companies. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, individuals have the right to see the personal information about them. If you have any queries, please let us know.

NON DISCLOSURE:

When requesting a quotation, completing a proposal form, renewing a policy or making a claim, we must emphasize the necessity that you provide us with all relevant and accurate information. Any material fact must be disclosed, as failure to do so could invalidate your insurance cover. Any inaccurate, misleading or omitted information could mean that part or all of a claim may not be paid.

PAYMENT:

Payment must be received prior to commencement of cover. Our arrangement with this contract is called 'Risk Transfer', which means the premium immediately becomes the property of the insurers, which will be held in a trust account until the actual transfer to principal.

POLICY CHARGES:

In addition to any premium charged by your insurers/underwriters, we can at our discretion apply an administration charges details of which will be notified with our quotation.

RETURN OF FORMS:

Proposal forms and installment applications are required to be returned duly completed within seven days from placing cover. Failure to return the proposal form will result in the insurance company canceling the policy and charging you for the time on cover. We will of course inform you of this prior to any cover being withdrawn, by sending a letter to your last known address giving seven days notice.

CANCELLATION CHARGES:

Your policy may be cancelled at any time, however we do require your written confirmation of this. In the event of the cancellation of your policy, either upon your instructions or as a result of the proposal form not being returned, we reserve the right to retain our commission fee or administration charge. In the event of the insurance company making payment following a claim, no refund will be permitted. Cheques in respect of any refund will only be issued upon receipt of the credit from the insurance company.

CLAIMS PROCEDURE:

It is important that all claims are notified to ourselves immediately. Claim forms should be completed in full and returned immediately. The insurance company retains the right to use their own repairers/goods suppliers in the event of a claim. We will advise you of this during the processing of your claim. The insurance company retains the right to reduce claim payments, if it is ascertained following a claim, that you are underinsured. It is therefore imperative you insure your property for the full replacement cost, which for building insurance means the re-building cost and not the market value.
